New York Explosion
Good Morning!
Yesterday afternoon there was a terrible explosion here in NYC. An old (circa 1882!) steam pipe exploded. 1 person was killed and 17 were injured. They’ve capped the pipe, leaving a huge crater in the middle of 41st St. and the possibility of asbestos contaminated air. It was pretty scary and chaotic around here for several hours. My husband works about a block away from the explosion and his building was evacuated. Luckily today was his day off so he was safe at home! Thankfully it’s been determined that it wasn’t terror related. Count your blessings everyone!

Apparently America is quaking in their boots right now.
Al queda dont have to lift a finger to terrorize. All that it takes is someone saying BOO ! in mid town NYC and america pees in its pants.

Susan, I’m thankful you and your family are OK. Your post was calm and reassuring. I do enjoy your writing. Your neighbor, Pam

Vink, your comment was inappropriate. Had you been here in NYC when 9/11 hit, and again yesterday when the pipe exploded, sending a column of steam, mud, asphalt and debris 30 stories into the air, breaking the windows of nearby buildings and causing buildings blocks away to shake, you would have been scared as well. The explosion left 1 person dead, about 20 more injured, and a 25ft crater in the middle of Lexington Ave. This was no small thing by any means. You should be ashamed of your insensitivity.
