Gardening Information on Figs

by

124111_ficus_tree_3You may think of figs as a produce that is rare to get, but they really aren’t all that rare. The only issue that figs have with them is their shelf life and the ability for them to stay fresh within a few days of picking them from the tree.

Figs were first recorded in history in the tablets of Lagash in Sumer and been apart of the Egypt and Greece history and present day ever since. Cleopatra killed herself with a spade that was brought to her in a basket filled with figs as well. Figs have been apart of our history in the back shadows since they were first discovered.

The fig tree is a ficus tree and it contains large, rough, textured leaves with three lobes. They have been apart of our history since biblical times and the small fruit should become more of a table top staple as the other fruits are. They are one of a kind and should be grown in any garden.

The ficus tree will bare fruit once the tree is established and every leave will contain fruit if taken care of properly. Growing quality, good sized fruit will take a few years and needs plenty of sun and will grow to the point of being shaped around any structure. The tree is very hardy if taken care of properly and given adequate space to thrive.

When you purchase your tree, make sure it does not already bare fruit or isn’t root bound. The tree could already be damaged if it is pot-bound. Plant the tree in moist to moderately acid soil and reap the benefits for years and years to come.

Hiya, i have seen your site when searching a few weeks ago and i really love the design! I just bought a new 3 character domain (cost me a packet) for a niche review blog, and i was wondering if your design is a free or paid one? I’m new to Wordpress and about to set it up, and i would really like to get something with a similar look to yours. Any ideas where i could download or buy something similar? Thanks for your help! :)

Those look so good. Good figs have always been hard to find for me. I use to by some from a place called earth fare but they changed their suppliers and they are not that great anymore. Great picture :)
